17 Executive Council Resolution #101 May 6, 1982 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored By: Representatives-at-Large: Karen Hansen Kim Covington Matt Sunderland Rep from the Law School: Rick Hagner Rep from the Business School: Lynne Barry Rep from Arts & Sciences: John Carson A RESOLUTION WHEREAS: Many national political issues, despite their merits, do not directly affect students at the University of Colorado; and, WHEREAS: Student fees should be utilized to benefit the students who pay them; and, WHEREAS: Student fee expentitures by the Executive Council indicate single, unified political views on campus, when in fact, many views exist. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: UCSU Executive Council shall avoid, whenever possible, spending student fee money to advocate a particular view on a national political issue, unless students are directly affected, as with the Financial Aid campaign. SECTION 2: Mandatory student fees should not be expended to propagate issues which are not clearly of immediate concern to the students of the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado. These issues shall consist of those pertaining to academic concerns, faculty, facilities, or student rights. In order to expend monies outside of these concerns the University of Colorado Student Union should be directed to do so by a student referendum specifically mentioning the expenditure of monies.
