November 4, 1982 18 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL BILL 1/3 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored By: Authored By: Arts & Sciences Representative: John Carson Richard Bourie, SA to Financial Services , Becky Lawrence, former UCSU Representative-at-Large John Guldaman, former UCSU Representative-at-Large A BILL BILL SUMMMARY Positive check-off and Student Organizations Committee BILL HISTORY In that the Spring 1983 preregistration forms will be positive checkoffs, it can be safely anticipated that a decrease in revenues for SOC groups will result. Accordingly, it is the intent of this bill to provide a safety net thereby ensuring the viability of SOC groups until such a time as other funding arrangements can be secured. BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: Student groups, as defined by Student Organizations Committee, will be funded principally by a positive check-off mechanism at preregistration. Should funding of $50,000 per academic year not be realized, the University of Colorado Student Union (UCSU) shall appropriate a portion of unbudgeted interest income monies to bring the level of funding to $50,000 per academic year. Should this prove inadequate to the realization of $50,000 per a cademic year, the UCSU may appropriate sufficient monies from the UCSU Central Reserve or may budget a portion of the total student fee package to this end, or any variation of these measures to ensure funding at $50,000 per academic year. Appropriations made as part of this total student fee package must not exceed one percent of the total student fee budget. SECTION 2: This bill shall take effect upon passage.
