BILL HISTORY The UCSU Constitution establishes the responsibility of allocating student money to student groups directly to the legislative branch of UCSU (Article II, Section A, 2.c.). The Appropriation Committee has functioned as an adhoc committee for one legislative session. This bill would create the Appropriation Committee as a permanent Standing Committee. BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: Article VI, Section B the first sentence shall be changed to read: "The Executive Council shall establish and maintain an Appointments Committee, a Rules Committee, a Elections Committee, a Student Organizations Committee, and an Appropriation Committee." -- SECTION 2: Article VI, Section B, a new sub-section 5 shall be added which shall read: "5 . Appropriations Committee a) The committee shall be composed of seven (7) members. The chair shall be the Executive Council Treasurer. Three members shall be elected from Council, at least one from Representative Council and one from Local Schools. One student-at-large shall be appointed by the Appointments Committee to serve a one year term after ratification. b) The Appropriations Committee shall be empowered to examine requests for funding from Executive Council. This committee shall use the Student Fee Guidelines in evaluating requests, as mandatory student fees are being allocated.
