~"l Septernber 22, 1983 19 EXECUTIVE BILL /134 11 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored by: Representative-at-large: Tom Roberts A BILL BILL SUMMARY Places a referendum question on the Fall 1983 UCSU Election Ballot BILL HISTORY Executive Council members work for UCSU on a volunteer basis. Executive Council members devote between 10-20 hours, or more, to their various functions each week. UCSU members who cannot afford to spend this amount of time working for UCSU, due to their need of employment, are effectively eliminated from the position of Representative-at-Large or Local School Representa tive. This factor creates a certain elitism within UCSU Executive Council. BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union THAT: SECTION 1: The following referendum shall be placed on the Fall 1983 UCSU Election Ballot: To allow all students the chance to participate in UCSU, regardless of financial need,should Representatives-at-Large and Local School representatives be paid for the time they spend at Local School, Representative Council, and Executive Council meetings, in the amount of $5.00 per hour, not to exceed $100.00 per month YES SECTION 2: NO?" This money shall, until the 1984-85 budgetary year, be appreciated from Central Reserve and thereafter from the UCSU Salary Budget. 19ecb 1134 Page 2 SECTION 3: This salary shall take efect on November 1, 1983.
