September 29, 1983 19 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL BILL 1141 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored by: Law School Representative: Adam Golodner A BILL BILL SUMMARY This Bill allocates $500 to the University of Colorado Student Bar Association to be used to offset expenses for their Regional Conference on Reform Tax Policies. BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union THAT: WHEREAS: The University of Colorado Law Shcool is hosting a regional conference on reforming tax policies this October 14-16. The conference will discuss new tax legislat ion introduced in Con'gress this year. The following people are confirmed speakers: Professor Murray Rothbard, noted Austrian economist, will deliver the keynote address. Alvin Rabushka of the Hoover Institution will speak on the flat rate tax plans proposed in his recent book, "Low tax, Simple Tax, Flat Tax." Gina Despreay, Legislative Assistance to Senator Bill Bradley, will speak on the Bradley-Gephardt flat rate tax bill. Thomas Ruhm of Bessemer Security Corporation, New York, will discuss the merits of individual versus corporate tax reform. Professor Mike Waggoner, University of Colorado Law School, will speak on consumption tax proposals. Professor Richard Wagner, Florida State University, will speak on constitutional economics. Mike Rosen of the Shavano Institute will analyze the problems with our current tax system. SECTION 1: The University of Colorado Student Union shall allocate $500 from Council Reserve to offset expenses incurred for honoraria and advertising. SECTION 2: $150 of the total $500 shall be allocated to the Colorado Daily and Campus Press for advertising.
