19 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL RESOLUTION 11105 June 23, 1983 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored By: Authored By: President Pro-Tempore: Gretchen Roorbach Representative-at-Large: Bill Tucker Graduate Rep: Jeff Newman Rolan Zick, Director of Wardenburg Student Health Service A RESOLUTION WHEREAS: Surveys and statistics on the UCB campus indicate that approximately 10-15% of students attending the University of Colorado Boulder Campus (approximately 3500 enrolled students) have no health insurance coverage to supplement the services provided at Wardenburg; and, WHEREAS: The Executive Council, UCSU, finds this large number of uninsured students unacceptable; and; WHEREAS: Financial and medical reasons are among the major causes of students leaving school. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: UCSU Executive Council resolves that a mechanism be developed whereby students at the University of Colorado Boulder Campus should have medical insurance to supplement health care available at Wardenburg Student Health Service and to offer protection against financially catastrophic medical expenses. SECTION 2: It is also resolved that absolute freedom of choice of health insurance plans be an integral part of the program and that a mechanism for waiver of insurance on an individual basis be incorporated into the plan. SECTION 3: Executive Council will approve all recommendations concerning insurance coverage and fee-waiver systems.
