BILL HISTORY

On February 13, 1987 at 8:00pm in the Glenn Miller Ballroom a long-awaited
debate on the Strategic Defense Initiative (Star Wars) will take place. The debate,
which is sponsored by the College Republicans, Campus Dernocra ts, Space Interest
Group, STAND, and Student Pug wash, will feature two very distinguished
authorities on this subject.
Lt. Colonel Simon P. Worden is with the U.S. Air Force, and works on the SDI
directly under General Abramson, who is in charge of the project. Dr. Richard L.
Garwin is a well published graduate of the University of Chicago, who now works
with the government on matters of military technology, as well as the Union of
Concerned Scientists.
This is a unique opportunity to have, at a small price, a well thought-out debate on
a current and controversial topic, which is what this University is all about.
BILL SUMMARY

This bill allocates $287.05 for the debate.
BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student
Union, THAT:

SECTION 1:

An amount not to exceed $287.05 be allocated from Central
Reserve to partially fund the SOl debate on Feb. 13.

SECTION 2:

A report be submitted to this Council on the event by March
March 15, 1987.

SECTION 3:

This Bill takes effect upon passage.
