~ (, 26 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL BILL 015 January 29, 1987 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored by: Representatives-at-Large Jeff Stephens John Ramos Authored by: Representative-at-Large A BILL Jeff Stephens BILL HISTORY The CU Bowling Program is one that has not received a lot of attention, but one that is up-and-coming. They work independently but with a professional coach, and get no University or student fee funding in any form. Because of this lack of funding support for the team, they are forced to compete only with those colleges in the area (CSU, UNC, Metro, etc.). The team's only chance to compete at a national level is through qualification tournaments, such as the regional in Tempe, building the program, and be within the true spirit of student fees. The emergence of bowling as a demonstration sport at the 1988 Sum mer Olympic Games will make it an important sport for unversities to support in the future. They have raised about two-thirds of the money, and it is up to us to get them now to Tempe! BILL SUMMARY This Bill allocates $278.44 for one-half of the remaining cost of sending the C.U. Bowling Team to Tempe, Arizona for the West Regional Bowling Tournament. BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: An amount not to exceed $278.44 be allocated from Central Reserve to fund the C.U. Men's Bowling Team for their trip to Arizona. SECTION 2: A written report, complete with team and individual scores, will be submitted to the Executive Council by March 20, 1987.
