Black History month, and with recent events both at CU and nation-wide, it is timely indeed that we have the opportunity to bring to this campus an entire month of events for a very reasonable price. Awareness of ethnic concerns on this campus may be at an all time low, and we must act to enhance both knowledge and awareness of these issues, while the concerns are fresh in the minds-of the students. BILL SUMMARY This bill allocates $1889.70 for the purpose of putting on this series of events to commemorate Black History Month. BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union THAT: Section 1: An amount not to exceed $1889.70 be allocated from Central Reserve, to fund the events listed in the budget and schedule presented here lor Black History Month. Section 2: A report on the events be submitted to this Council by April 1, 1987. .. 26 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL BILL 1/17 -Page 2 Section 3: This bill takes effect upon passage. 1/29/87 -PASSES -EXECUTIVE COUNCIL -SPECIAL ORDER -ACCLAMATION ~ 0~.-(L.~ (, /)'?z~ Dean Miller President Pro-Tempore Executive Council 1ce Haup an UCSU Executive BLACK HISTORY MONTH BUDGET Black Film Festival Including film rental and equipment •••••••• $116.00 Life of Thurgood Marshall ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• $390.00 Felipe Hall ••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ~······•••••••••$300.00 Cleo Parker-Robinson •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• $300.00 Dr. Clarence Major Reception ••••••••••••••••••••••••• $200.00 Lecture on "The Color Purple" ••••••••••••••••••••••••• $100.00 Advertising 3 3 SubtotaL GAR TOTAL ~pg. ~pg. ads Campus Press •••••••••••••••••••• $267.00 ads Colorado Daily •••••••••••••••••• $277.20 $1950.00 +$ 89.70 $2039.70 ***It should be noted here that this budget covers bare expenses for these events only, as none of the participants will be receiving honorariums of any kind. • BLACK HISTORY MONTH Feb. 2-8 Black Film Festival Dr. Charles Nilan Feb. 12 Lecture: "The Color Purple" Dr. Seward & Dr.Coleman (Eng. profs.
