February 19, 1987 26 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL BILL 1/33 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored by: Pharmacy Representatives Linda Artzberger Esther Han Greg Selenke Authored by: Academy of Students of Pharmacy Pharmacy Representative A BILL Tad Anderson Esther Han BILL HISTORY The members of the Academy of Students of Pharmacy of the University of Colorado Pharmacy School would like to request funds not to exceed $356.00 to attend the American Pharmaceutical Association's mid-year conference. This amount will help cover the air transportation for two representatives (out of a total of seven) from the University of Colorado Pharmacy School. Approximately 10,000 plus attendance is expected (1,000-1,500 will be students and 9,000-8,500 will be registered pharmacists). Representatives from such pharmaceutical companies as Parke-Davis, Eli Lilly, and Burrows Wellcome will be present. There will be numerous workshops and lectures covering such topics as: recent developments in pharmaceuticals (e.g., newly manufactured drugs and new dosage forms), current trends in the practice of pharmacy, new developments in the study and research of disease states (e.g., A.I.D.S.), and the current job market/possibilities. This conference will enable us to further our knowledge and gain exposure to current ideas which are in use in pharmacies today. Seven representatives will be needed to attend this conference in order to adequately represent the Pharmacy School of the University of Colorado: Tad Anderson, Scott Bonhus, Steve Broucek, Tracy Donoghue, Steve O'Brien, John Rising, Thuy Wilson. Our Pharmacy School is relatively small when compared to the other pharmacy schools across the country. Our presence at this conference will attract job recruiters to this campus, which would not only be a benefit to the Pharmacy School, but to the University as a whole. BILL SUMMARY This Bill allocates $356.00 + GAR of $16.38 for airfare for two members of the Academy of Students of Pharmacy to attend the American Pharmaceutical Association mid-year conference. All possible routes of obtaining funds have been investigated.
