A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS:

Monday, January 19, 1987, has been declard a national holiday in
commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr ,'s birthday; and,

WHEREAS:

Martin Luther King Jr. devoted his life to fighting for the civil
rights of all people; and,

WHEREAS:

This day is not only to honor one man's efforts in the civil rights
movement, but all individuals who, through the years, have risked
their lives in pursuit of equality,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Executive Council of the University of
Colorado Student Union, THAT:

SECTION 1:

UCSU and all of its members resolve to uphold the ideal of equality
for all people, regardless of race, sex or religion.

SECTION 2:

UCSU acknowledges Monday, January 19, 1987 as Martin Luther
King Jr. holiday, and is dedicated towards the accomplishment of
his dream.

SECTION 3:

This Resolution takes effect upon passage.
