A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS:

Regardless of whether one agrees or disagrees with the events
which took place on November 17, 1986, all citizens have the right
to freedom of speech and dissent under the Constitution; and,

WHEREAS:

The protesters' actions were political in nature and therefore the
outcome of the administration's disciplinary procedure has definite
political ramifications; and,

WHEREAS:

Those political ramifications have the effect of repressing political
expression by students on this campus; and,

WHEREAS:

The sanctions that were imposed by the Director of the Office of
Student Conduct were extreme and injurious to the exchange of
ideas at this institution of higher learning,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Executive Council of the University of
Colorado Student Union, THAT:

SECTION 1:

The one-year suspension and banishment from campus of seven
students be revoked by the Student Disciplinary Review
Committee.

SECTION 2:

This Resolution takes effect upon passage.
