The members of the Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity of the University of
Colorado would like to request funds to attend the annual Council of Logistics
Management Educational Conference.
This is the only conference of the year in which 2,500 of the most influential
executives of the top domestic and international transportation and other major
corporations attend. Representatives will be present from such corporations as
General Motors, Keebler, United Air Lines, and Proctor and Gamble. There will be
numerous workshops covering such topics as: Frontiers & Logistics, Finance &
Budgeting, Human Resource Management, Forecasting & Inventory Management,
and Electronic Data Interchange Appllca tions. Last year four members of the
Delta Nu Alpha Transportaion Fraternity had the opportunity to attend this
conference. Two of those members, Nicolai Lovenskiold and Cathrine Lind, made
contacts with company representatives and were hired by American President
Lines and Maersk Shipping line, respectively. Companies such as Pepsi Cola
Company, ABF Freight Lines, and Hewlett-Packard Company were so impressed .
with the four attending members that they came to the Universjty of Colorado
campus to interview not only transportation majors, but also marketing, finance,
corn munica tion, english, and economic majors.

Besides furthering the development and understanding of the Transportation/
Logistics Concept, the conference will enable us to gain exposure to the water
transportation industry.
BILL SUMMARY
This Bill allocates $500.00 plus GAR for airfare for two members of Delta Nu
Alpha to attend the Council of Logistics Management Education Conference.
BElT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the Universtiy of Colorado Student
Union, THAT:
SECTION 1:

An amount not to exceed $500.00 to be allocated from Central

SECTION 2:

A written report summarizing the conference will be
subrni tted within two weeks of our return.

SECTION 3:

This Bill takes effect upon passage.
