Pacheco Perry Dino Susie Fricklas John Jones Justin Cumming Valarie Eilert Laura Larson BILL HISTORY UCSU Executive Council and the University at large has taken a firm stand in opposing violence and harassment against women. · It has actively supported such programs as NightRide/NightWalk, the Committee on Personal Safety, The Committee on Sexual Harassment and numerous educa tiona! programs on subjects like Acquaintance Rape and abusive Relationships. Facilities to improve campus safety, including the installation of emergency telephones and increased lighting have become a priority. UCSU has also provided assistance for the annual Take Back the Night Week, during which a series of public lectures, films and workshops focusing on the issue of violence against women are given. The week culminates with the Take Back the Night March and a workshop for men at the Boulder Bandshell. Some of this year's workshops will include: 1) What will the ratification of Robert Bork to the Supreme Court mean for women's rights?; 2) What can men do to stop rape?; 3) "Model Mugging" (self-defense program) demonstration; 4) How men can support the women marchers. Take Back The Night Week will be held October 5 ... 9, 1987. This will be the &th anniversary of this international event. BILL SUMMARY To allocate $&90.62 + GAR from Executive Council Reserve to cover advertising costs for Take Back the Night Week, October 5 - 9, 1987. BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: UCSU shall allocate an amount not to exceed $890.62 + GAR from Executive Council Reserve to the Feminist Alliance for Take Back the Night Week advertising.
