Burpee Representative-at-Large Adam Kaplin A BILL BILL HISTORY With the growing spread of the AIDS epidemic and the evidence that condoms . prevent the proliferation of the disease, it is important that condoms are as easily accessible as possible. At the moment the Recreation Center and the UMC are in the process of getting condom machines, but because of the limited hours of those buildings, the students' needs are not going to be met. The administration has publicly shown an opposition to allowing condom machines in the dormitories. In order to encourage the administration to act responsibly on this issue, a referendum is called for. BILL SUMMARY The following question should appear on the Fall 1987 ballot: "Due to the growing spread of AIDS and the fact that condoms have been found to halt the prollfera tion of AIDS, would you support placing condom machines in the student dormitories?" BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union THAT: SECTION 1: The election commissioner will place the question: "Due to the growing spread of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases and the fact that condoms have been found to halt the proliferation of AIDS, would you support placing condom machines in the student dormitories"? SECTION 2: This bill takes effect upon passage. 10/8/87- PASSES- EXECUTIVE COUNCIL- 1st READING- ACCLAMATION 27 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL BILL /128 -Page 2 , ud~ f&[A/!A(JJ~ · cd_. Eddie W.
