Integ,ral in these efforts was the Black Student Alliance along with many other concerned students and faculty. In the coming months it is the goal of the Black Student Alliance to continue to build upon the cooperation and understanding achieved during the 86-87 school year. In furtherance of these efforts, the Black Student Alliance has scheduled a meeting and reception for July 31, 1987, from 7 pm to 10 pm to be held at the University Club. The objectives of this meeting are threefold. First, to strengthen the contacts between the several minority based organizations at the University of Colorado and key student leaders, second, to provide a forum for the Black Student Alliance and other minority groups to outline their goals and programs and to seek input with regard to the same. Lastly, to foster productive and lasting relationships between the University and members of the business community. To date the Black Student Alliance has received verbal commitments to attend from Governor Romer's Office, Mayor Pena's Office, Mr. David T. Goens, ESG., State Senator Regis Groff, Mr. Ken Hamblin, Mr. Perry Jones, and State Representative Samuel Williams. The Black Student Alliance will also invite representatives from Student Organizations, University of Colorado Administration and University of Colorado Faculty and StaJf. BILL SUMMARY This bill shall allocate an amount not to exceed $610 from the Central Reserve to partially cover the costs of the meeting and reception planned by the Black Student' Alliance in their efforts to improve minority affairs at the University of Colorado. BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: An amount not to exceed $610 + GAR be transferred from the Central Reserve to the Black Student Alliance in order to fund the meeting/reception on July 31, 1987, at the University Club. • 27 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL BILL //3- Page 2 SECTION 2: The Black Student Alliance follow through on the alternative funding sources as outlined in the attached budget.
