BILL HISTORY
During the budget cycle for preparing the UCSU budget for 1987-88 there were
significant problems in determining how the Local Schools Council would get
money to allocate to student groups. After the Iran-Contra, Local Schools
hostage-budget
crisis, the highly respected Finance Board agreed to suspend the UCSU by-laws,
with the help of Executive Council, and allocate an extra $5,000 to Central
Reserve, with the idea that this money would be transferred to Local Schools
Council Reserve after July 1, 1987.
Local Schools has proven, particularly in the past year, to be a viable source of
funds for student groups and it is in the best interest of the students and UCSU to
make this transfer.
BILL SUMMARY
This bill transfers $5,000 from Central Reserve to Local Schools Council Reserve.
BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student
Union, THAT:
SECTION 1:

That Executive Council allocates $5,000 to Local Schools
with the first allocation to not take place until September
17 when over-collections will be realized.

SECTION 2:

As a provision of receiving this money, Local Schools Council
will follow the allocation procedure followed by Executive
Council and elect a treasurer . to keep track of the money.

SECTION 3:

This bill takes effect upon passage.
