Russel Means is the most prominent American Indian leader in America today. In
1979 he founded AIM, the American Indian Movement, which has spearheaded the
drive for Indian self-determination and self respect. He has involved himself over
the years around the world, from leading the take-over at Wounded Knee in 1973,
to being wounded in Nicaragua where he came out strongly against the Sandinista's
slaughter of Indians. He has sought both the Republican and Libertarian
nominations for President of the U.S. He is a powerful and intensely charismatic
spokesman, not just for the Indian people who are even today threatened with
annihilation and final subjugation, but openly for the freedom of all human beings
from all forms of tyranny. He is currently the head of his organization FIFE,
Freedom Is For Everyone, and is associated with the Advocates for Self
Government in California. Russel Means is one of the most impassioned and
persuasive advocates of liberty alive today, as well as being one of the most
important figures in modern American Indian history. His unique point of view is
one which could only enrich this University.
Radicals for Capitalism has secured Chern 140 on October 13, 1988, for this ev·ent.
The lecture would begin at 7 p.m., and, with questions, is likely to last until 10 or
later.
We are requesting money for advertising only.
BILL SUMMARY

This bill shall allocate from Central Reserve an amount not to exceed $489.16 +
GAR for advertising of the Russel Means lecture.

SECTION 1:

Executive Council aflocate from Central Reserve an amount
not to exceed $489.16 + GAR for advertising of the Russel
Means lecture.

SECTION 2:

This bill takes effect upon passage.
