October 6, 1988 29 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL BILL //27 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored by: Represen ta ti ves-a t-Large Felicia Clark Dawn Massop Authored by: Campus Crusade for Christ David Hughey Kelly Kinner A BILL BILL HISTORY Two years ago we held our first party along these line·s and were sponsored by UCSU, Panhellenic Council, IFC, DRC, and had over 800 people in attendance. We provided a D.J., decorated the ballroom with balloons and streamers and built a soda fountain complete with soda jerks. It was a complete success. Last year we decided to bring in a live band and did not seek sponsorship so we could freely explain who we are and our goals as a campus organization. Once again the party was very successful but the numbers were down due to cost ($3.00 per person), date (Sunday evening), and weather (blizzard). 450 attended. This year we decided to return to the original format with D.J. only and once again seek sponsorship. Obviously because we are seeking sponsorship we will not proselytize in any manner. We would like to be able to make the following announcement if possible: "Welcome to the third annual Back to the 50's party. We want to thank our sponsor, lJCSU, for funding this dance. If any of you are interested in Campus Crusade for Christ and in learning what we are about, fee free to come up front and ask us. Our weekly meeting is every Friday night at 7 in Duane Physics G-030 and everyone is welcome to attend. Thanks for coming and we hope you are having a great time." Campus Crusade has a weekly meeting on campus with an average attendance of over 300 people with 500 involved in the overall campus program. We feel that it's our responsibility to help people understand that it's not necessary to drink to enjoy a party life at the University. We feel that because we do not drink (as a whole) we would be the best group to provide this function for the School and with our built-in membership it will be a big success.
