BILL HISTORY
The Black Student Alliance is currently seeking funding to send two delegates to
the Fall Council Meeting at the University of Oklahoma Oct. 28-30, 1988. The
Council Meetings, which are held biannually in the Spring and Fall, are attended by
delegates representing each Big. 8 University. School reprots will be given, which
list the activities and involvements of the Black Student Organizations since the
Spring Council Meeting. The council also discusses past conferences, new and past
business and many other topics.
The University and the BSA has sponsored Council Meetings and one annual Big 8
conference. This conference has particularly been responsible for our students
having a stronger student government, becoming candidates and holding offices in
CU's general student body government.
In summary, the ·Council Meetings serve as a time and place when th.e officers of
the Black Student Governments of the Big 8 Universities come together to discuss
their successes and failures, share ideas and plan future endeavors. Due to the fact
that CU's BSA is hosting the 12th Annual Big 8 Conference Feb. 16-19, 1989, it is
vitally important that we are represented at this council meeting. Once there, we
can let the others know of our plans and progress on the conference; and take in
any advice and suggestions about sponsoring such an event as the Big 8 Conference.
BILL SUMMARY
This bill will allocate $290.00 plus GAR to send two delegates to the BSA Fall
Council Meeting in Oklahoma, Oct. 28-30, 1988.
BE IT ENACTED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student
Union, THAT:
SECTION 1:
An amount not to exceed $290.00 plus GAR shall be allocated
to send two delegates from BSA to the Fall Council Meeting
Oct. 28-30, 1988.
SECTION 2:

A report shall be subrni tted pursuant to 24 ECB /14.

SECTION 3:

This bill takes effect upon passage.
