October 31, 1988 29 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL BILL /141 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored by: Environmental Design Rep. Andy Bromberg Jim Hall Authored by: A.I.A.S. President A BILL Sean Tennant . BILL HISTORY Chicago Design Forum '88, November 18-28, will continue the traditions established by the first annual Forum in 1960, bringing together the brightest and most influential designers in America today, and providing dynamic opportunities for idea exchange between them and student representatives, who will in turn pass this information on to fellow students on the University of Colorado @ Boulder campus. This year's theme: "UPWARD/OUTWARD: THE DYNAMICS OF A CITY AND ITS ARCHITECTURE", will examine urban Architecture through a week long series of seminars, discussions, tours, and design "charrettes", wherein students can test their abilities to synthesize their creative and rational ideas into real architectonic solutions, a11 within the vastly rich architectural setting of the city of Chicago. This year, the A.I.A.S. continues its strong membership, comprising over a third of the enrolled Environmental Design students. Also, there are various important academic programs that our college is producing that we feel we should be publicized at this convention (i.e. the Navajo Hogan Indian Student Housing Project). Therefore, we feel it is especially important to send a proportional number of delegates to this Forum. We feel that the enrichment these representatives will bring back to the Boulder campus will directly influence the club members, as well as raise standards for the school in general. The A.I.A.S. received partial Executive Council funding for Forum "87, and we would greatly appreciate your support again this year. BILL SUMMARY We are requesting $1308.00 for the complete funding of 2 delegates -for 11 days, to represent Architecture students, from the state of Colorado, at this national conference in Chicago. BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: This bill would allocate and amount not to exceed $1308.00 for 2 delegates to attend the Chicago Design Forum '88. SECTION 2: A written report shall be submitted pursuant to 24 ECB /14. SECTION 3: This bill takes effect upon passage. 10/31/88 -REFERRED TO FINANCE BOARD 11/03/88- PASSED- LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL- SPECIAL ORDER- 16-0-1 -ยท 29 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL BILL 1/41 - Page 2 tl ~6L Drew Bolin President Pro-Tempore UCSU Legislative Council UCSU Executive ';"-} 7 I ~ -vJ:};~ ,---..r::=...___
