29 EXECUTIVE COUNCIL RESOLUTION 1/102 August 4, 1988 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored by: President Pro-Tempore Tri-Executive Represen ta ti ve-a t-Large Drew Bolin Chris Drummond Sean Murphy Authored by: President Pro-Tempore Drew Bolin A RESOLUTION WHEREAS: The United States Student Association (USSA) was created to represent issues of higher education common to all universities and colleges in the United States; and, WHEREAS: USSA spent less than an hour on higher education at its last National Summer Congress, July 22-27, in Hartford, Connecticut; and, WHEREAS: There is evidence that USSA has strayed from its original mission by taking stands at the Summer Congress on many issues completely unrelated to higher education; and, WHEREAS: Taking stands on a wide variety of issues only lessens the focus on higher education. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Executive Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: UCSU shall discontinue its yearly membership in the United States Student Association (USSA). SECTION 2: UCSU may reconsider its annual membership only if there is documented evidence that higher education will be the main focus of USSA.
