30 EXECUTIVE BILL //3 December 1, 1988 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored by: Tri-Executives Chris Drummond Susie Fairchild Tim Kauffman Representatives-at-Large Sean Murphy Robert Ervais Tammy Kang Graduate Representative Jack Bigner Engineering Rep. Les Lambert Education Representative Paul Benfield Authored by: Tri-Executive Chris Drummond A BILL BILL HISTORY In fiscal year 87-88 ·the student fee guidelines prohibited the allocation of student fees for meals, lodging, & registration fees for out of state travel. This clause was included in the original guidelines to encourage fiscal responsibility. Subsequent to the removal of this clause, large amounts of money have been allocated for activities other than travel. The phrase nwhere the exclusion of such will prohibit travelers form participating in activities integrally involved in the purpose of travel" is extremely vague and over-used. In addition, the By-Laws still prohibit the allocation of Student Fees for meals, lodging & registration fees. This contradicts the Student Fee ·Guidelines. The student fee guidelines should be changed to eliminate contradiction. BILL SUMMARY This bill shall ammend the UCSU Student Fee Guidelines to prohibit student fee allocations for meals, lodging, & registration fees in out of state travel. BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: 6.3 .3.4.d. of the Student Fee Guidelines shall be revised to read: Allocations for out-of-state travel shall include only transportation.
