AIAA serves as a link between those interested in aerospace engineering and professional engineers. The AIAA chapter here at CU is a student chapter of the nationwide ' AIAA professional organization. Regional and national conferences for AIAA are held every year. Last Spring, the Region 5 conference was hosted here in Denver by the CU chapter. This year's conference will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota from April 19-21. The objective of this conference is to: involve students in a technical paper competition, provide interaction among students and professionals, and faci li tate communication and involvement between universities. CU will take part in the student paper competition AIAA believes that a strong delegation will further CU's positive leadership and continue the tradition of past success ••• BILL SUMMARY This bill allocates an amount not to exceed $684.00 + GAR to offset the costs of roundtrip air fare for the AIAA Region 5 conference to be held in Minneapolis, MN April 19-21. BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: An amount not to exceed $684.00 + GAR to be allocated to fund air fare costs for the AIAA coference. This years meeting was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Thirty-four delegates and our faculty advisor were able to attend. We continued our history of success at this annual technical paper conference. Seven of approximately sixty papers were presented by CU students. Of those seven, three were honored. In the graduate division, Richard Johnson was rewarded with first place and Scott Peppin placed third. An honorable mention was awarded to Ralph Burns in the undergraduate division.
