Student group organizers are seeking to revive the event this year in order to increase student participation in global issues. With the recent growth in the popularity of the International Affairs program at C.U., and the everpresent need for University wide interaction on these issues, the U.N. Week will be serving the diverse interests of the student population. Through the process of participating in the U.N. Week, students will gain valuable leadership and organiza tiona! skills, while bringing to gether varied student groups and government, the University Administration, and other University programs such as the World Affairs Conference. The organizations who are participating include the Environmental Center, International Relations Forum, C.U. WOrld Citizens, the Speech and Debate Team, Middle East Peace Coalition, KUCB, Campus Democrats, Campus Women's Organization, AIESEC, Service Civil Interna tiona!, STAND, Peace Corps, Pre-Law Club, C.U. Space Interest group, Arts and Sciences Student Government, American Movement for Israel, Russian Club and the AIDS Task Force. BILL SUMMARY This bill allocates an amount not to exceed $773.95 +GAR for the U.N. Week at CU between April 10-15. BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT_: SECTION 1: An amount not to exceed $773.95 + GAR be allocated from Central Reserve to fund advertising costs for the U.N. Week of April 10-15, 1989. SECTION 2: A written report will be submitted pursuant to 24 ECB 114.
