BILL HISTORY
Peter Beckmann was a prominent research scientist in Czechoslovakia until 1963
when he defected to the United States. He ls now Professor Emeritus of Electrical
Engineering at CU-Boulder. He was offered the chairmanship of the School of
Engineering, which he declined. He has written many scientific books and articles
and currently publishes a monthly newsletter, Access to Energy, which presents
factual and critical discussions of current scientific issues. He is widely known
both in and out -of scientific circles and has recently appeared on the Mort Downey
Show.

Radicals for Capitalism ls sponsoring Dr. Beckmann to speak Tuesday, December 6,
1988 at 7:00pm on the Greenhouse Effect and the destruction of the rainforests.
Both of these issues have gained wide attention in the media yet little scientific
information is generally available. Dr. Beckmann will provide a discussion of the
scientific facts involved and answer questions after his talk.
The money requested ls for advertising only. Dr. Beckmann is not asking for an
honorarium.

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Council of the University of Colorado Student
Union, THAT:

SECTION 1:

-An amount not to exceed $231.40 + GAR from Central Reserve
shall be allocated to fund -Dr. Beckmann's talk.

SECTION 2:

A written report will be submitted pursuant to 24 ECB 1/4.

SECTION 3:

This bill shall take effect upon passage.
