February 23, 1989 30 LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL RESOLUTION /1103 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored by: Journalism Representative Authored by: Jim Mahoney Les Lambert A RESOLUTION WHEREAS: The Students of the University of Colorado are routinely expected to study late into the night; and, WHEREAS: Declining financial aid necessitates the holding of daytime part-time jobs; and, WHEREAS: The quality of the library system of the University of Colorado has been ranked in the bottom third of AAU institutions in every catagory; and, WHEREAS: Individual colleges are unduely reproached during accreditation procedures for lack of study space; and, WHEREAS: Library study space is difficult to· obtain during peak hours. WHEREAS: Computer time has been sharply curtailed on campus despite an increase in demand; and, WHEREAS: The University of Colorado consigns its current academic problems to an ambiguous and indifferent future bugetary process. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislative Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: · SECTION 1: The University of Colorado must extend the hours of Nor lin Library during peak hours. SECTION 2: Computing Services must provide for the use of its computer terminals at night.
