Losing her reproductive rights limits every woman's access to education. Access to a safe, legal abortion is a fundamental part of every student's right of privacy. In light of the Webster decision, and the coming decisions of this session of the Supreme Court it is imperative that the Student Union represent the overwhelmingly pro-choice students of the University. BILL SUMMARY This bill states the official position of the Student Union. BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: The University of Colorado Student Union hereafter supports the legal access of women, rich and poor, the right to choose a safe abortion, as well as counseling, information, and safe, effective contraception. SECTION 2: UCSU will send certified letters reflecting UCSU's position to the Governor, the Board of Regents, each member of the Colorado General Assembly, each member of the Colorado Congressional Delegation, and the President of the United States within one week of the passage of this bill. ยท SECTION 3: This bill takes effect upon passage. 10]f9/89- PASSES- Legislative Council- 1st Reading- 8-7-2 10/27/89- FAILS- Legislative Council- 2nd Reading- 8-10-1
