As of Monday, June 5, an estimated 1000 protestors were reported .killed. (Christian Science Monitor, June 5, 1989); and, WHEREAS: Students at the University of Colorado and across the country have expressed disbelief and disgust about the atrocious civll rights violations demonstrated by the Chinese Govt. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislative Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT: SECTION 1: As fellow students, the students of the University of Colorado give our unmitigated support to Chinese students taking a stand for democracy and basic freedoms. SECTION 2: In addition, we assert, that the actions of the military troops have been in unconditional violation of citizen and human rights. SECTION 3: The UCSU of CU Boulder will lend its support to a proposed letter to student leaders in Beijing, authored by the University of Colorado Intercampus Student Forum.
