~ september 27, 1990 33 Legislative Council Bill #19 UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO STUDENT UNION Sponsored by: Graduate Representative Malinda Matney Authored by: Graduate Representative Malinda Matney A BILL BILL HISTORY 1990 is a general election year. Included in the elections are three regent positions: District 2 (the Boulder .area, currently held by Lynn Ellins), District 6 (the southern suburbs of Denver, currently held by Norwood Robb), and one At Large position (currently held by Peter Dietze). Ellins and Dietze are currently running against Robert Sievers (.in District 2) and Guy Kelley (At Large) . In a manner similar to League of Women Voters debates of presidential, senatorial and gubernatorial candidates, the United Government of Graduate Students would like to host a regential candidate debate on the Cu campus, the most appropriate place for such a debate. It is hoped that students will take this opportunity to educate themselves about those who will lead our university for the next six years, and cast wise votes as a result. UGGS has selected as moderator Chris Roberts, a reporter for the Daily camera who covers campus and regential affairs regularly. Mr. Roberts holds no strong ties to any faction involved, making · him an informed, yet unbiased choice. Panelists are still being finalized, but AEGIS hopes to include members of faculty, administration, AEGIS and ucsu, as well as striving for gender and minority balance. UGGS has contacted all candidates involved, and they have all consented to the afternoon of October 23, 1990 as an appropriate time for such a debate. The Glen Miller Ballroom is available at that time, and is currently held for this event.
