A Resolution

Resolution History

The University of Colorado at Boulder’s Administration has a long and positive history of working with students in promoting campus safety. The Committee on Personal Safety has invested much time in investigating and surveying the campus for areas that need Emergency Blue Lights. The expansion of Blue Lights in the past has had a positive response from the student body. Blue Lights assist in providing an environment that promotes safety. This system acts as a deterrent for acts of violence and also provides a means for victims to immediately contact 911-dispatch. In addition to Blue Lights, the Committee on Personal Safety has worked to determine areas in need of increased lighting. Lighting is an essential component to maintaining a safe campus.

Resolution Summary

WHEREAS: The expansion of the Blue Light Emergency system and lighting has been a priority of the University of Colorado Student Union in the past,

WHEREAS: Blue Lights and pathway lighting promote an environment of safety on-campus,

WHEREAS: The strategic placing of Blue Lights in areas suggested by the Committee on Personal Safety will efficiently serve the students, faculty, staff, and visitors of the University of Colorado,

WHEREAS: In the past year there has been an increased number of physical/sexual assaults and Blue Lights and lights could act as a deterrent for possible future acts of violence,
