Resolution Summary

WHEREAS, the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE), an 11-member lay board, acts as a central coordination board for Colorado public higher education, and

 

WHEREAS, the mission of the Commission is to implement the directives of the General Assembly and promote and preserve quality, access, accountability, and efficiency with Colorado public higher education, and

 

WHEREAS, the Colorado higher education student voice is represented on that commission through the Colorado Student Association director, who serves as a non-legislative advisory committee member, and

 

WHEREAS, the Colorado Student Association has seen significant declines in its membership since its inception in 1989, serving only a membership of Adams State College, Fort Lewis College, University of Colorado-Denver, Mesa State College, Metro State College, and Western State College, and

 

WHEREAS, Colorado State University, University of Colorado-Boulder and the University of Northern Colorado have in recent years removed their respective student bodies from the association; now, therefore,

 

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislative Council of the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT:

SECTION 1: The Colorado State University, University of Colorado-Boulder, and the University of Northern Colorado student bodies request that the CCHE remove the Colorado Student Association from membership as a non-legislative advisory committee member and interchange with a current student of the Colorado higher education system.  

 

SECTION 2:  ENACTMENT. This resolution takes effect upon passage upon passage by the Legislative Council and upon obtaining the signatures of the Council President and the Tri-Executives.
