Resolution History
The Wilderness Study Group, CU Wildlife Initiative, and the Rainforest Action Group have operated as independent environmental groups on campus through the support of referenda monies. The Rainforest Action Group referenda period ends the spring of 2007, the Wilderness Study Group and CU Wildlife Initiative have referenda funding until the spring of 2008. These groups received funding based on mission statements promoting the expansion of environmental awareness on campus and in greater Boulder community. The similar goals and funding avenues for these groups will enable them a greater level of efficiency and impact of campus through there consolidation into a single student group, CU Wild.
Resolution Summary
Whereas: The Wilderness Study Group, CU Wildlife Initiative, and the Rainforest Action Group have operated as independent student groups.
Whereas: Consolidation will promote greater efficiency by enabling a single group greater visibility and impact on campus and in the community through the pooling of resources and volunteers.
Whereas: Consolidation will promote cost savings through a decrease in administrative costs
Whereas: Consolidation will not inhibit the achievement of the individual mission statements and a single student group will allow separate groups’ mission statements to be achieved with greater impact and efficiency
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislative Council of the
SECTION 1: The Wilderness Study Group, CU Wildlife Initiative, and the Rainforest Action Group collapse into a single student organization known as CU Wild
SECTION 2: This new group shall obtain joint funding.
SECTION 3: CU Wild will be maintained as a single SOFO account
SECTION 3: This new group shall have the authority to hire a student outreach director and a student administrative director through the spending of the referenda monies. These positions must be given to full fee paying students and will be paid at the Student Assistant level I.
SECTION 4: ENACTMENT. This resolution takes effect following its passage by the Legislative Council and upon obtaining the signatures of the Council President and the Tri-Executives.
