Bill Committing to Enhanced and Sustainable Leadership Communication

 

Bill History

 

Each UCSU Administration has had a different relationship with the University administration based on personal connections and platform goals.  A consistent medium of communication between students and administration, at all levels, is a necessity in order to serve the needs and interests of students as a part of ongoing conversations especially in regards to long-term shared goals of student access to affordable, quality, and accepting institutions of higher education.

 

 

Whereas: Students require a sustainable medium of communication with upper levels of the University of Colorado Administration.


Whereas: The University of Colorado Student Union Leadership is committed to actively representing student interests and needs.

 

Whereas: The University of Colorado Student Union Leadership requires an opportunity to work closely with administration to better serve the University of Colorado at Boulder campus in order to adequately support student interests and needs.

 

Whereas: One of the best means to integrate student interests and needs into the decision making process is to interweave elected student officials into the fabric of the university’s current and future activities.

 

Whereas:  The University of Colorado Student Union acknowledges the Division of Student Affairs and their Leadership for sustained inclusion of students as an ally.

 

Whereas: University of Colorado Student Union Leadership shall be further defined as the Office of the Executive, President of Legislative Council, Vice President of Legislative Council, and the Appellate Court Chief Justice.

 

 

 

THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED:

 

Section 1: The University of Colorado Student Union calls upon the President, the Regents, and the Chancellor to engage in these conversations regularly.

 

Section 2: The University of Colorado Student Union Leadership will schedule and meet with the University of Colorado President one time each semester.


Section 3: The University of Colorado Student Union Leadership will schedule and meet once each semester with representatives from the University of Colorado Regents outside of regularly scheduled Regent meetings.

 

Section 4:  The University of Colorado Student Union Leadership will schedule and meet quarterly with the University of Colorado at Boulder Chancellor.

 

Section 5:  The University of Colorado Student Union Leadership will continue to meet weekly with Leadership from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

 

Section 6: Upon passage of this bill copies shall be distributed to the University of Colorado President, University of Colorado Regents, and University of Colorado at Boulder Chancellor.

 

Section 7: This bill shall take effect upon passage by the Legislative Council and upon either obtaining the signatures of two Tri-Executives or the elapse of six days without action by the Tri-Executives.
