March 13, 2008 68LCB#8 Sponsored by: Chance Heath Representative-at-Large Authored by: Chance Heath Representative-at-Large Jake Falbo Program Council Director Amendment 1 to Fiscal Year 2008-2009 Appropriations Bill ________________________________________ Amendment History This amendment provides a 2% increase in hourly wages to Program Council employees for a total amount $2125. Furthermore, it provides a 3.5% increase in Program Councils operating budget. This would equate to a total operating increase of $4,927. The increase in wages would help Program Council remain a competitive employer on campus, resulting in less turnover of employees. The decreased turnover would enable Program Council to function more efficiently as well due to the fact that we would not have to constantly be re-hiring and re-training employees. The increase in the operating expenses is due to the increased cost of putting on large-scale events of our nature. The price of talent, large equipment and venue rentals all increased. The total increase in Program Councils budget through this amendment would equate to, $7052.00 to increase wages and programming. ________________________________________ THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED, by the Legislative Council of the University Colorado Student Union THAT: Title 1 Section 1: University Memorial Center (UMC) $3,370,035 shall be funded through Student Fees for all operations of the UMC. $30,982 shall be funded through the UMC Fund balance for projected 3.5% increase in operating expenses. $1,989,951 shall be funded through Student Fees for existing UMC Bonds. $118,910 shall be funded through Student Fees for the continued operation of the Nightride Nightwalk program. $5,009 shall be funded from the SOR account for maintained operations of the Nightride Nightwalk program. $133,521 $140,573 shall be funded through Student Fees for the continued operation of Program Council. ________________________________________ Vote Count 3/13/08 Passed 13-1-0 ________________________________________ Boyce Postma Hadley Brown Legislative Council President Executive Charles Gilford III Sara Davine Executive Executive
