Revision to Expenditure Reports
____________________________________________________________________________________
Bill History
As the UCSU Election Code stands, there is no
formalized procedure for filing a campaign report if the candidate did not
spend any money. Though this issue is minor, it has come to be a confusing
matter for candidates at the conclusion of elections. In order to ensure that
there is a formal statement on file declaring that a candidate or ticket did
not spend any money on their campaign, the Election Code needs an amendment
added to it.

Bill Summary
This bill will create an amendment to § 702(b). The
amendment will state that if a candidate or ticket did not spend any money on
their campaign they must submit a formal and signed statement declaring that no
money was spend in furtherance of their campaign. The statement will be due at
the same time as the expenditure reports.

THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Council of
the University of Colorado Student Union, THAT,
Section 1: SECTION 702(b) (3) of the UCSU Election Code shall read: Should a candidate or ticket not have any expenditures to report, they must submit a formal and signed statement declaring that they did not spend any money or receive contributions pursuant to § 701(a). The declaration shall be constructed in the same form as an expenditure report save for expense listings, and is due at the same time and date as the expenditure reports.
Section 2: This bill shall take
effect upon passage by the Legislative Council and upon either obtaining the signatures
of two Tri-Executives or the lapse of six days without action by the
Tri-Executives.
